About Us

Benson Lodge gets its name from back in  the 1950s when the property was in fact  a lodge for travellers  now its  a small family farm of 30+ acres situated just below the foot hills of the Takatimu  Mountains.

The farm  has been held by family for more than 30 years and has had organic pastures for over a decade  now .

During this time there has been no in-organic fertiliser, weed killer, pesticide or anything used on the farmed land making it as organic as possible .

Jason has had turnbullsjoinery.co.nz for close to 20 years now and just last year we constructed a 450+sqm  fully off grid workshop on the property for him to work from. That's right an off grid workshop! The 3 phase is run off a diesel generator powered with Bio Diesel and the rest is run from Solar and a 2.6 meter span wind mill the only one of its kind in NZ that we know of.

When he isn't in his workshop you can find him out tending to the Belted Galloway, Highland Angus and Herford cross cattle.

They are run on lush Heritage grass self seeding pastures and drink the fresh spring water which runs off the Takitimu mountains.

Belinda is a fully trained Herbalist currently studying to become a Naturopath. She formulates and manufactures Natural Hair care, Skincare and Herbal Teas. Most of the herbs used in her range are grown here on the farm.

You can find us alternate weekends at the Southland Farmers Market selling our lotions and potions and home grown  organic beef  treats. Call in and find us  at the market or get in contact with us for home delivery.
